Been climbing about a year, and recently took a bouldering class at Go Vertical in Ct with Obe Carrion. Great instuction. We worked on training techniques, as well as climbing techniques. A couple of key points that seem obvious but were none the less very instructive: warm up 10-15 minutes before climbing. That might include jump rope, push ups, jumping jacks, etc. Anything that moves arms/legs, and gets the blood flowing. The more O2 in the blood, the more energy/strength we will have. Second point was patience. In the middle of a problem many of us may try to push the Crux, or just muscle it. If we wait a bit, and set our body differently, we might just find that the Crux is not necessarily as difficult as we thought, and we can cruz the next several moves with more strength in reserve. Great stuff. Jim
