8 hours til I hit the road to Zion and my partner just bailed. Dammit. Car's loaded and ready to go for a wall. Got the next 4 days off. Anyone in a simliar bind right now, PM me. If worst comes to worst I'll just drive to Moab, sit under an arch for a day or two and drive home. But I'd really love to hit something in Zion  . Right now I'm up for anyting so if anyone wants to roam southern Utah with me for a couple days, drop me a line.

Bummer about the partner. But.....sounds like a great opportunity to practice your aid-soloing.

Oh yeah, the trunk of my car is stocked with tequila and good beer, since those are two options I wouldn't have once I cross the Utah state line. My gas tank is full. I have the next 4 days off. Dammit....I might have to just drive back to Moab and get liquored up under an Arch somewhere contemplating why people can be such flakes. But I reaaaaaalllllly wanted Zion. I don't have the balls to aid solo yet.

I wish I lived closer, I would blow off work and go with you, but it would take me at least 2 days to get there. At least you have tequila!

Take heed Uber enthusiatic and well stocked Beth, that rock will be there long after we've fed the worms and repleated our nutrients back into the sphere.....It'll happen. As for the balls to aid solo, (checks himself) Im not there either, but liquor, arches, and chillin sounds not soooo bad right now. Buck up camper, you get 4 days to go hang, enjoy and remember it could be worse.....you could be in an office under artificial light and blah... ;)

Thanks sandbag. I think I've found someone for Zion this weekend. Someone I know and actually trust so hopefully all will work out in the end. I refuse to let the selfish actions of others deter me from a wall I had my heart set on. :P . One door closed today....another just opened. It should all be good. Nothing more fierce than a determined climber girl armed with tequila :P

First the damn snow, can't climb in Salt Lake..........grrrr....and now, thanks to my job/beautiful wife/family...can't go to Zion.....wish I was 25 again....be there in a heartbeat..... But we DO have Tequila in Utah.....and real beer......it is a myth that alcohol cannot be had here.....just a little harder to find (State liquor stores, which by the way, have a HUGE selection of wines, at reasonable prices). The biggest problem with the stores are the BEER is warm.

Beth, I'd consider heading up there. I have to work tomorrow, but I'm done at around 4:00pm and I have off thru the weekend. My main problem is that I really need to get my truck into the shop, and I'm heading to Josh next weekend so I know it won't happen then. There is also the problem of having to bail on people this weekend in Red Rocks, but I've never climbed in Zion. I hope that you can meet up with someone there to climb with, but I'll PM you with my cell number. Think of me as a possible back-up, no promise! g

In reply to: Hey Beth: What wall are you doing? I will be in Zion doing other things and will check you guys out. -Kate. MB or Spaceshot if they're not all crowded up. Which now that I'm doing it on a Saturday instead of a Thursday makes it more likely it'll be a zoo to get on them. Look for my car in the lot at Big Bend.

If you decide you'd rather do some real climbing rather than pull on pieces and bolts, give me a buzz.

Hey Beth. Amber is on her way out there right now. If you still haven't hooked up with a partner yet, I know a cool guy who would be happy to climb with you. His name is Jake. You can find him working at the Pizza Noodle or working in the gear shop below the pizza noodle. I don't think he aids but he's a pretty good/safe trad climber.

Especially Paul, Kate, Kelly, Scott, Tim, Amber, Meg, g....I could go on, just know that I appreciate you all. Esp. Kelly and Kate for helping with the gear situation today, love ya girls  (and you too Paul) ! Now I just have to pray I can speed jug enough to keep up with Paul  !

In reply to: Now I just have to pray I can speed jug enough to keep up with Paul  ! You have tequila, I have Xenedrine. Let's see who can keep up. Looking forward to climbing MB finally. Let's be fast and efficient and decrease the down time. Speed balls for speed walls (it is ethical as long as you don't drill). TRADitionally yours, Cali Dirtbag
