Considering climbing the 3 sisters this summer. I did a backpacking trip along them a couple of years ago, but this time I'd like to hit the summits. Looking for the easier routes; preferably with little crevasse risk. Can anyone offer some insights as to routes up the mts or good books to look into on this? Thanks!

Check this site out, Not very informative info on the front page other than elevation and first ascents etc. Dive deeper into the site and links and there is alot of good info for summiting all three. http://www.peakware.com/encyclopedia/peaks/sisters.htm P.K.

The youngest one puts out, but don't bother with the older two. They're prudes.

Thanks, but the only site I found that looked like it had info was the damn Oregon Mtn Assoc site which you have to pay for. I ain't shelling out $35 to them just so I can pay them more for their route description. There's gotta be a guide book or something. Did I miss something on another site?

The best resource on climbing routes on the Oregon volcanoes, including the Sisters, is "Oregon High," by Jeff Thomas. Unfortunately, I believe it's out of print, but if you look around, you might be able to find a copy. Try powells.com for starters. There are routes up Middle & South Sister that don't involve glacier travel (SE ridge on Middle Sister, South Side/Devils Lake on South Sister). Have fun!

goto http://americanalpineclub.library.net/ and do a search for "three sisters" they have info on guide books, I don't know if they are still in print or not so they might be hard to find. P.K.

There's a book by Jeff Smoot called "Climbing the Cascade Volcanoes" that has info on the sisters. All three can be climbed with little to no crevace danger. However, rockfall, especially on the North Sister is going to be an issue. pm me if you want more info.
