Penticton is ALOT hotter than most of the surrounding areas and alot hotter than the rockies around Calgary. It's good there in the spring (April May ) and in the fall when the temps aren't so bad. Depends how hot you're used to climbing in. Good rock though...nice crimpy vertical stuff, alot of variety...yup can't wait to get out there this spring.

In reply to: BC - July ranges between 16° and 21°C (60° and 70°F). Alberta - July temperature range from 10° to 23° C (49° to 74° F). Both provinces are HUGE!! That average you have is hooey. It totally depends on where you are. To be more accurate you would need to look at the averages per city. Some places in the interior of BC for example are normally 35 to 40 degrees in summer, so it totally depends where your at.

If you want to climb Trad you should get the Guide to Bow Valley rock book, for sport it's Sport Climbs in the Canadian Rockies. Have fun, you will love it here!! Check out Prairie Creek near Bragg Creek if you want some great sprty 5.12's, it's a great crag! Also, Lake Louise really is amazing, the views are so stellar and there are some great sport and trad stuff there. Gets busy on weekends though.

canmore also has the longest sport route north of mexico (on chinamans peak) I would suggest canmore. There is a TON of climbing EVERYWHERE. NO matter which direction you drive from canmore, you will hit a crag in 20 mins. Calgary to Canmore is about 45 minutes once your on the highway. Lot's of shade and hiking and toursit crap for off days (15 minutes from banff) The only thing canmore lacks is good bouldering. But in terms of sport and trad, you can't choose a better spot. Squamish is the bouldering capital of canada however. But it woudl be a hell of a long drive for you to get there. I would also say Canmore over Penticton, just because of the sheer variety canmore offers over the competiton.
