Saturday March 13 five team members set out on the white rim trail for a weeks worth of biking and climbing. Not so strange, but this team's plan was to ride the entire trail unsupported by automobile and climb four desesrt towers along the way. Starting out with more than 70lbs of gear, food and water apiece the team steadily marched toward The Washer Woman and The Monster. Two parties of two climbers climbed each route In Search Of Suds and The North Ridge all free in a day and were back to camp well after dark.
The next tower was Standing Rock in Monument Basin. With an early start on the day both teams climbed the regular route free onsight, after which, with daylight to burn loaded the bikes and pedaled to Murphy Campground over ten miles away on top of the notorious Murphy Hogback. After another extremely long biking day the team arrived at the entrance of Taylor Canyon and the home of Moses.
Because Of deep sand and dwindling water the team moral was waviering. After refusing water from a woman in a red jeep the team made use of water from the Green River to continue on. The next morning the teams of climbers left camp at 4am and 4:30 to start the 5 mile approach to the base of the Primrose Dihedrals on Moses. Starting at sunrise and running 8 topo pitches into five the first team was on top before 12pm with the other team right behind!
As night fell the team decided to try to tackle the final uphill, up out of the Canyonlands which was still 6 miles away under the cool of night, in order to conserve water. With only river water left and very little food the team arrived at the top of the hill late into the night exahusted and ready to sleep. The final day was an arduous day of gradual down and up hills for 10 miles back to the paved road into the park. Around 11am the team arrived at the visitors center to a drink of cold water from the fountain and food left in the truck!
Thanks to our sponsers: Blue Water for the ropes, GoLite for the clothes, Black Diamond for the headlamps and gear, and BOB for the bike trailers, without which the trip would not have been possilbe. And special thanks to Andrew, our photograper, for setting the thing up and enviting me to be a part team, and Trent, Chaz, and Devon some of the greatest people with whom I've ever toiled.

Andrew Kornylak is a great photog. Hopefully, he'll be putting pics from the project on his site soon.
