I'm thinking of going to Chickies Rock this weekend. My partner is a good climber but hasn't climbed trad. I was wondering how good the area is for top-roping. Thanks!

There's a lot of good toproping on the main wall, with an easy hike up to riverview ledge to set up your anchor. Just keep in mind that most of the topropes from the ledge require you set an anchor using gear. There's also a bunch of topropes on the valley trail wall, check the database for suggestions (many of these climbs are X rated otherwise). I might be up there myself this weekend if the weather is nice. My name's Al so keep an eye out for me and I can give you some route suggestions while you're there.

Lots of moderate top roping. PM Mitchal and he will tell you how to set anchors on the main wall. have fun...it's a great place to climb.

The northwest buttress is also good for a variety of short top rope routes.

I also would recommend the NW Buttress.

Also, you could easily TR the second pitch on the Main Wall for some short, fun, pumpy overhanging routes. There are plenty of trees at the top to sling, just need long runners. And make sure to anchor in the belayer on the ledge of course. Plus, you can't beat the view and exposure!
