We just got back from JTree and enjoyed repeating a climb of Classic Corner on Cockroach Crag in the Atlantis area. There's another dihedral to the right of Classic Corner (as you face the climb) that we enjoyed, but can't find any mention of it in any guidebook. It's probably a grade easier, and was short but fun. Does anyone know the name of this climb?

Classic Corner is the right-facing corner on the right while the left-facing corner/ramp to the left is called False Classic Corner (aka The Case Of The Missing Nolina).

In reply to: Classic Corner is the right-facing corner on the right while the left-facing corner/ramp to the left is called False Classic Corner (aka The Case Of The Missing Nolina). Hmmm. Sounds like I may have had the 2 switched. So Classic Corner wouldn't be visible from the ground when standing near Aiguille de Joshua Tree, but False Classic Corner would be? That might explain why we thought the climb on the left (facing the rock) was harder than the 5.7 rating in Vogel's book, but 5.7 seemed about right for the climb on the right. What's the rating for False Classic Corner? We thought it might be 5.8.
