Calling all Allamuchy Climbers: Some of the trees atop the main wall and right wall have seen better days. Especially the trees over routes 12-16 in the Rock Climbing New Jersey book. These routes are some of the routes that people first get on when they go outside. So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in maybe helping the trees out by putting on top some chains and rap rings. I would love to do this but would need some help and proper equipment. If anyone is interested in helping me out with this project just post it here. Climb High Joe

There are a couple of bolts out there on some of the faces but nothing was ever placed on top. For the most part the Allamuchy cliffs have been maintained by the climbers. Rangers don't bother you or anything like that. I am in the process of finding out if there are any restrictions but so far my leads are pointing to none.

Joe I would be more then happy to put some bolts up top and on Blow Out a 11+? that I have been working for a bit. One thing I know about there is that some of the bolts get chopped why I dont know since the climbs that are bolted have no places to place pro. I am in the process on learing how to bolt and once I am good at it I will throw some up there unless its already done.

there are trees and cracks for gear at the tops of all the climbs. bolts can cause problems in the community as they have in the past. This is a top roping location. lead it "as is" or don't. that is your choice. About the bolts. Has anyone spoken to the Allamuchy Park Rangers about this idea? also check with Access Fund's NJ repressentative first. NJ is in danger of loosing its bouldering too so climbers TREAD LIGHTLY!! edited 9/27/04
