I've heard a rumor that there's a new direct finish to Maginot Line on Shortoff. Rumor has it that it fires straight out the steeps from the top of the second pitch. It supposedly goes at 10a or b. Can anyone corroborate? I'm headed there Saturday. If this is true, I'll be sure to come back with an addition to the DB.

Well, it's there, but i didn't climb it. My wife and I were in a hurry to beat the sunset, so we ran up Maginot, instead. The new line looks fantastic, though. The roof is H U G E, and there's a shiny new bolt right in the middle of it. Not sure when I can get out there again, so if anybody does it before I do, make sure you post whether it's a thumbs-up or down.

Yea its most def an 11, and i would say that it is good, a much much better way to finish off Maginot Line.

The money pitch of Maginot is the third. Comparing one of the best 5.7 pitches around to an .11 is like saying apples are better than bananas. As one of the more mellow routes there, i imagine most folks that go out to Shortoff to climb Maginot won't even consider the direct finish, regardless of how rad it is. That said, it is on my list, albeit behind half a dozen other classics.
