I was in the Valley today and after bouldering around Camp 4 I started watching two pairs of climbers on the Pacific Ocean Wall. They were both in the black streak just left of where 'San Diego' would be on 'North America'. I saw one of the seconds do a serious pendulum-does anyone know if a pendulum is done on purpose there? Anyway, at dark it was about 35 degress, crazy winds, and raining/hail on the floor. How much of an epic can it turn into for those guys up there with the weather that bad on the floor? One of them was Noah Borerro(sp?). Anybody know him?

Yeah Jody, I know Noah. Yes, I believe you're talking about the "Nothing Atolls" pendulumn. It's a very tricky pendulmn. And yes. That's a VERY bad place to be if a storm hits. It's funny you asked this question because I am working on an article about me and my brother having a huge epic, just above the "Continental Shelf". Ahh, you might have to wait..... because I'm heading to the Ditch myself. Cheers, Ammon

Ammon, If you see Noah, tell him I took a telephoto of him above the pendulum. It isn't a very good picture because the weather was lowsy. Noah was in the top pair(I talked to some friends of his that were watching him from the meadow). There is another pair just below him in the dark streak. Here is the pic: http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=ListPhoto&PhotoID=4074

A friend informed me of this photo. I was in the lower group below Noah and Ted on South Seas right where it joins the P.O. The pendulum you saw me do was the "rubber band man" pitch on South Seas. Yeah, the weather really started getting crappy that day, we ended up spending the following day just hunkering down on our ledge and swilling tequila. The weather got slightly better the next day so we boogied and got to the "island in the sky" ledge. From there we passed Noah and Ted and a day and a half later topped out. I think Noah and Ted topped out late that night. We were pretty cold for a lot of the route, but had plenty of time so just climbed when it wasn't freaking snowing on us.
