hi. Does anyone know who put the bolts in at the top of the y-crack? I was using them last weekend and noticed that they are way too close together to have webbing run to the top of the Y. Does anyone know if there are any rules about bolting at Dixon? I would really like to add one more that is a little more spread away. Thanks.

Two questions:

1. Can you put gear in up there? If so, don't add another bolt (of course).

2. You climb there? I went there once, and it sucks!

yeah, I climb there because It is close. I live in Vista. I supose gear is placeable, but it is really low on the rock to do, making an equalizer is out of the question when you use the crack below the bolts. Yes, y-crack does suck, but great for people in north county who just want to get out for the day.

This is probably a little late. . . BUT-

I grew up climbing at Dixon Lake. been climbing there for 15 years. I did place some bolts around that area on climbs that had questionable anchors. Especially since more beginners visit the area. But the Y crack ALWAYS had great natural pro at the top. Why did bolts show up there? It sounds like somebody didn't do that great of a job since they are too close, but since the damage is done, you might as well replace them and make them bomber. Maybe pull one, epoxy the hole (and add camo with rock dust), and add another new one a bit further away. Its all about rock preservation.
