some of you may think this is a stupid question, but until rescently i was unfamiliar as to what the acronym HMS stood for. anyone want to clue me in???

Not sure exactly but the letters are an acronym for something in German that loosely translates to "half clove hitch belay".

*Edit*- Ha! Found it. It stands for "Halbmastwurfsicherung"
