Well got out of the office early on thursday and hopped in the car and headed west to seneca. Got there bout 9ish on thursday night (damn DC traffic). set up camp and went to sleep. got up the next day and hit the rock about 9 in the morning. we climbed Estacy, Estacy jr., block party, gunsite direct (that is a GREAT route), banana, and debbie to name a few of the fun ones. i never knew it was that close to DC and the number of fun routes with such amazing views. Cant wait to go back. E on a downer note heard somebody got hurt on saturday (5/8/04) but havent been able to get confirmation on that yet....anybody know?

In reply to: SAY WHAAAATTT? Seneca Rocks!!! Highest peak east of Devil's Tower accesible only by 5th class climbing. (Clearly, you missed the point.) I second that. Terrible climbing there. Don't waste your time.

Terrible climbing there. Don't waste your time. Mmmm well, maybe not. Don't quote me on this (pure speculation), but wouldn't there be something in the Needles/ Mt Rushmore area of S. Dakota that would be only accesable by 5th class and at a higher elevation than South Peak of Seneca?

What is this Seneca Rocks place that you keep raving about? IT IS A MYTH, people, a hoax perpetrated and perpetuated by the military-industrial complex. Nothing to see here. Please limit all your climbing to great crags like Carderock and Great Falls. (And yesterday was a fantastic day at the non-existant crag, until about 5:30, when all hell broke loose from skies that had been threatening all day. This morning, foggy and still a bit damp around the edges...)

Next time you go there, do Dusty's Pop Off and tell us what you think. Remember to breath deeply and turn off your fears as you run out the last bit to the belay at the top. Enjoy, Erden.
