climbing instruction. I'm a licensed, working 3rd grade teacher who needs quality (safe) outdoor climbing instruction/partners in Portland starting with the very basics; I can belay and rappel. I'll trade tutoring up to 8th grade (for your kids, not you). I have special training in reading, writing, ESL, Spanish, and visual math (the weird math we never had). I would need 6th - 8th grade materials a couple of days ahead of time. I can also trade knitting lessons and lessons in making amazing (really the best ever) all-natural handmade soap. Or, I can just trade soap -- custom formulations, too.

you're asking for advice in a sport that is dominated by men and offering knitting and soap carving lessons as payment??

I don't carve soap! I'm looking for the more obscure family-oriented aspect of the climbing scene...

Don't let the dorks get you down, they do that to NooBs on this site. There are plenty of good climbers out there who will help for free. Be patient, keep posting, they'll reveal themselves. So what do you carve out of soap? - kidding.

HI, what is it you want to learn, like t.r,sport,trad?. I could teach you those. Dont need to trade me anything except for a belay. I belay for you and you belay for me.Ill gladly show you everything I know, thats how I learned. I am very safe, and really stress it while I climb, the only stupid questions are the ones left un-asked. anyway goto go to work :?

Where do you live? If you are up in the Portland area, just come out some time to Broughton Bluff, and talk with peolple (when they aren't actually climbing), and in no time you will have plenty of people willing to help you learn the ropes. PM me if you would like, and I'd be more than willing to go climbing. I am always looking for someone wanting to climb
