I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on what kind of camping there is around calaveras dome area. And how far is the hike or drive from the campsite to the climbing. Is there running water and toilets and do we need to bring in water.

Thanks in advance for any input.

There are a couple of developed campgrounds on the river as you are driving in. They have pit toilets and tables but that's about all the development. We usually opt to camp elsewhere however and camping is allowed anywhere (I think, at least we always have no problem camping anywhere) The campgrounds can fill up on the holidays but there are plenty of optional places to camp, just look around. The river provides water but we always bring our own for cooking and drinking. At the maximum it is only a 5 minute drive to the parking for the climbing areas.
