Thanks Cass! I just now noticed this post. Unfortunately, there are some people who are continually voting my pictures down. This is evidenced by the fact that I do not have a single photo ranked as high as 8.0! I know that not all of my pics are good, but at least ONE should be an eight! Therefore, I removed all of my pics from voting contention so the guys/gals that are manufacturing "one" votes to artificially depress the rankings can go pound sand and screw with someone else! From now on, if you have something personally against me...you'll have to leave a comment or PM me! MAN THIS POST MADE ME FEEL BETTER!!!

Jesus, take it personal much? Check out photo.net if you want to see some brutal flaming. Over there you have to actually be proud of your work or the trolls will crush your ego. If your photos impress the people that matter (namely, you and/or the subjects) then the rest of the world can get bent. If not, you'll never be satisfied. I posted one of my favorite photos here when I first joined. It went away. I didn't care. Nobody ever seems to like the same photos I do, at least not out of my catalog, so I've stopped trying to peg things as 'good' or 'bad'. I'd suggest you try the same. ps. I haven't voted on any of your shots but that one of Yosemite has been done about a thousand times. It's beautiful alright, but there's this guy Ansel you might want to read more about... pps. I looked at your shots, I would say that about a third of them are exceptional for one reason or another, which is pretty damn good by anyone's standards. You go. Thanks for your input jab...A good friend on this site taught me a long time ago not to care about what people think of my work...as long as I am happy with it. She's right. But my stinkin' stubborn personality gets in the way and I can't stand thinking that someone is out there screwing with me. Well I took that out of their hands by deleting the ability to vote and it was sure fun messing around with the html on these posts. I am not really as worked up over thius as I sound...I am going to sleep soundly tonight! No worries, mate!

Maybe we should all chip in and get Jody one of those brutally expensive gigantic telephoto lenses like the football field guys use. The auto-focus one for my Canon A2E is about $2500, but I once saw one on eBay for about $1000. Or for that matter, maybe one of those large format cameras that uses a piece of film the size of a sheet of paper. Didn't Ansel Adams use one of those?

Nah, any idiot can get good sharp pictures with a view camera or a supertele. That's a waste of talent! Real men can get fine pictures with beater plastic Holga and Russian Zenitar cameras. As a bonus, if you drop it, no need to file an insurance claim, just dig around in the cushions of your couch until you've got enough change for another. Now, that's something I'd chip in for! jmlangford Maybe I'm reading some of these replies wrong, but I'm not getting that loving feeling when I hear others say "grow a thicker skin" as advice. Here's a piece of advice I heard once "don't say the first thing that pops in your mind". Some day I'll learn to make it usesfull to me. Tell then, everyone sucks and I like jmlangford's pictures. Take a butt load more for us.

I have pics up and expect them to get voted down too...but the vote on yours doesn't make me think they are crappy, so you shouldn't be upset by it. They are just stupid people. The same people like the people who knock rocks down and dont say rock...just like you want to cut thier rope!!

Forgot to say this earlier -- in all seriousness your father's photos (and several of yours) elevate the quality of the entire site. Between the artistry of some of your better pieces and the history of your father's, they're really something to be proud of. Now quit being a bitch and take some more

we've talked about this a few times, eh jody? there are a lot of raisin-balled cowards(thanks for that quaint expression john long) on this site who don't submit photos and vote anything not of their type of climbing down. i've had some photos suffer unfairly, but i've also had some stay voted very high which i am grateful there. if you cast a vote either very high or very low, please submit a comment saying why, or a pm if you don't want to go on the public record. i also should add that if you like a particular photographer, check out all of their pictures - which i easy to do in the photo gallery. jmlangford and saltspringer especially have some incredible pictures voted very low that you will probably never see if you don't look at their complete portfolio. great job guys! Those tears were for you rimrat...since I am such a whiner. All I have ever asked for was a fair shake and if that makes me a whiner...well so be it. BTW rimrat, I voted you a 10 for your q rating because I was impressed with the fact that you finally had the gonads to say something publically. Peace, dude!
