i was thinking about doing some back packing at around the beuna vista area and was wondering how much snow is near there at about 12000-13000ft?

Iwas up in there a few weeks ago, and things were still white. I was told by some fishermen in Salida that travel up around La Plata peak was "difficult without snowshoes" but things didn't look quite that bad, Monarch Pass was clear. Not as much snow as the San Juans I think.

i climbed the belford grouptwo weeks ago. if you sttart up early you wont need snow shoes in the morning, but come afternoon on your way back down you will need snow shoes unless you enjoy post holing like mad. it s a good time
