I am pretty sure it has ephedrine in it which isnt really good for you, I have heard of people taking things with ephedrine and it giving them heart attacks. I used to take it sometimes, but it didnt really help me, and if it could kill me it really isnt worth it.

I really dont recommend hormone enhancing drugs or creatine. I have heard alot of GNC people say that they dont even feel human anymore because they took it when they were young. Personally, look for natural preformance enhancing products. Protein, carbs, ect. I bought a tub of this "Ultra Fuel" by GNC. It is full of Carbs and fast acting ingredients in liquid form that TASTES GOOD. Yes its true! It is not as thick as sand and has a good taste. It really helps me to recover. I suggest you check it out.

I don't know about Ripped Fuel specifically, but my roommate has been living on protein powder and creatine (he's "Body Builder", not a "Girly Man"....), and he is totally crazy. I've known him for over ten years, and he's never been like the way he is now. Completely irrational and aggressive. He goes off, smashing things, with this sort of rant, "YOU NEVER BUY SALT!!!!

I'm not kidding.

Any of those "safe" weightlifting drugs belong right up there with heroin and crack cocaine.

Oh, and he has to get up about four times a night to piss, which means that he's already killed his prostate.

Either that or you don't buy salt... jerk.

Hormone enhancing drugs....lol ...k
Creatine's Creatine's Creatine,
Ephedrine's not the greatest thing in the world for your body, and if you have heart conditions, it can be deadly. You can also have convulsions, heart attacks, black outs, ect., depending on how your body reacts too it, especially if you take caffine, or other things with it! It's probably not what you want coursing through your system when someone's life may be depending on you! But about the worst thing creatine's gonna do for you is make you bloat due to water retension, or possible give you kidney damage if you down the whole bottle...and hormone enhancing drugs...we're not in GNC anymore totto!

P.S. Apollo, sounds like something more scary than protien mix, and egg white milk shakes...it sound like a rare disease I once had called "Roomatenogroceryshopicus Eatestallamyfooditcus symplex-b" or steroid abuse

Arete2 do you realize that your body naturally produces creatine? It is found in all meats. Your body makes, uses and needs creatine to carry out metabolic function.

Yes, ephedrine can agitate existing heart conditions adn thins the blood. It is not for everybody. I would recommend consulting w/ a doctor before using it.

But it works. I have been using ephedrine products for a number of years. I have seen results from it.

Ephedrine is what CrystalMethAmphetamine is made from. Just like Cocaine is made from the Coca Leaf.

my 2cents
These products will make your body become dependent on them, when you stop takeing them your body will lose mass, and it will lose it in a way that the fat will be unevenly distributed in the fat cell, this is celulite . And all that work you did for your body is waisted  , it can also (so I heard) give you mood swings.
I highly recomend protein, it will build and build your muslce mass. And as long as you maintain a work out, you wont lose it unlike the other products. There is no healthy way to get the results you want (other than surgery), remeber this when you are buying heath products. ~Mind~Body~Soul~

My apologies to arete2
I thought you had made the comments about creatine.

To all you other individuals, creatine is not bad.

Can it be overdone? Yes, it can. but too much water can kill ya to.

And to the domestic violence victim who can't seem to remember to put salt on his shopping list, your roommate is probably on some form of pro-testosterone and has roid-rage. Or he is an ass because he packed on a few pounds of muscle and suddenly thinks he is the shit.

Either way, these are all problems that stem from ABUSE. The substances in and of themselves are not dangerous and do what they do well. It is the jackass who abuses and over uses thinking they are taking a fast track that get dead.

My two cents worth.

Either way it is not the creatine.

I don't know about any long-term effects of Ripped Fuel, but I can tell you that I definitely didn't like it.

The few times I have taken Ripped Fuel, I felt like I crap - my heart was racing non-stop and I was all jittery and just felt like I'd eaten a bottle of No-Doz.

As far as the others, I've taken Creatine, Andro and a multitude of protein substances. I liked the strength and weight gain that came with them, as well as the ability to lift as hard as I could twice a day and NEVER get sore; but after 6 months of taking them and lifting so hard, I found my joints were getting all jacked up. Everything comes at a price, so just remember not to push it too hard, becuase you'll find that you can easily do that while taking these supplements.

Moderation in all things. <---Words to live by.

Just my thoughts and experiences on it.

Hey litedawg,
You are correct about creatinine, but your body also makes testosterone, and hydroxysterone and a number of other things, and in excess, you screw up your hormonal balance. Just because your body makes it doesn't mean you should supplement it. That's how steroids work my friend. Your argument in on par with commercials that taut their "safe BECAUSE it's all natural" products to loose weight, gain weigh, grow bigger breasts (the list goes on). Just because it's "all natural" doesn't make it safe! Arsenic is all natural, digitoxin is "all natural," lead is "all natural" too, and they WILL kill you.
On that note, I recently read an article about a Chinese herb additive that was prescribed to 37 patients in Finland (I believe). This was supposed to enhance weight loss. Well, 33 of those patients have experienced bilateral kidney failure and require chronic dialysis or transplant. "But, but it was ALL NATURAL..."

Watch what you eat
and climb safe.

A friend of mine took too many ephedrine based energy pills (more than the bottle said to). He had a heart attack at age, 22. Take the recommended dosages if you're going to take them, otherwise, go natural. I still take ripped fuel to work on my muscle definition (along with a low fat diet) but be safe, that's what it boils down to.

I've raced bicycles, both road and MTB for twenty years and I can honestly say of all the things that worked best for me is a dietary plan that simply balances your intakes using 40% carbs, 30% proteins, and 30% fats. I migrated to endurance racing, as age took some of my speed, and had all the energy I needed, this includes many 24 hour races done solo. No need for outside stimulus. If you want more info there is a site http://www.zoneperfect.com that explains the concepts ........ stay healthy.

Hi, My name is Inflight. I am a recoverd supplementaholic. I use to pop horse size amino acid pellets,
drink a 32 protien drink every evening. I was so full after that shake that I barey had room for a balanced meal. Eating for fitness was chore.
I thought this was the key to monster strength and pecks that the girls would love to climb.

But I have learned now. It's about attitude for me, inaddition to education
and understanding of what whole foods work best for my body. So, I went all natural.

A balanced diet is the key to better performance and overall health. I am not against supplements but I fear the long term effects they may have on my liver and hate the added complexity of scheduling in all that additional 'stuff'. Who needs another chore?
Remember, these things are supplements not meal replacements.

Inflight, I may have to disagree there ar many supplements out there that clearly say on the container that they are meal replacements, this doesnt mean that you shouldnt eat, but it depends. I always eat a meal even though I take my supplement that says it can replace a meal.

If I need a jolt for climbing I drink ice tea. I tried fat burners a few times for weight loss, but they contain ephedrine and make me shaky. I eat high carb spaghetti prior to climbing on Wednesday nights. I also take a MetRx supplement (high protein with glucosamine) once or twice a week. Helps my recovery a bit after a heavy workout. Good advice on this thread. Moderation is the key as previously mentioned.

Crazeeclimber

Ripped Fuel is a brand name of a pill that contains Ma Huang (ephedrine), caffeine and L-Carnitine. These chemical stimulate your metabolism giving you increased energy and adding in the burning of stored fat.
There are many other producst on the market that contain similar ingrediants and do the same thing. Hydroxycut, Thermo Cuts, and Xenadrine are the most popular.

I reckon you'd probably get more burnt out quicker taking that. Anyways I wouldn't really know so...
Climb on (safely) everyone!

Plus climbing should be just that... No drugs.
Drugs are bad mmmmkay.

I have taken ripped fuel a couple of different times. I have never taken the dose they recomend!! I always take less then what they say. It makes you feel really jaked up!! I don't recomend it to anyone. It has to have side effects like muscle loss, racing heart and a lot more that no one knows yet.

I took Ripped Fuel once. It was before we did one of the more difficult climbs that we had gone out to Colorado to climb. It didn't kick in until after the 1st pitch. When it did, I felt like spazing out on the cliff. I wanted to climb really fast and hard, and just expend that "something" that I felt I needed to expend. It was weird. I was all jittery and s--- too. It's unnatural. That was my first and last time for Ripped Fuel. Ripped Fuel=F*CKED UP! And to comment on the side note of Creatine...one of my good friends uses it too and he's starting to get what some would consider "Roid Rage". He doesn't do steroids. He just overdoses with the supplements. The only thing that I will consider taking now is Ginsing. Anything else seems too unnatural and almost "cheating". Anyway, there's my dos pesos.
