Their rates are 40$ for the season or $6 fo a day pass.
You can also find get this most tourist centers around the crags.

Quebec law is based on civil law and not common law. That being said, if I were to hurt myself on someone's property in Quebec, the landowneer is responsible for my injuries (or his insurances). Therefore, my insurances will sue the landowner (or his insurances) for damages. Only in Quebec does this situaiton exist.
So, if I climb and hurt myself, the landowner is responsible. This is where the FQME comes in.
Their primary role is to provide insurance to the landowners so that if a climber hurts himself, the FQME will cover the insurance claims and not the landowner. All other roles are secondary (no matter what they try to tell you). Therefore, most landowners don't want you climbing on their land if you are not a member of the FQME.

My family membership coverage costs $65 CAD per year. I think personnal membership is $40 CAD. A day pass is $12.
I know a few years ago they offered free coverage to people who live outside the provence who wanted to climb in Quebec. Don't know if that still exists.

Also, if you are a member of the Alpine Club of Canada, you can get the FQME membership for $7 or something like that if I remember correctly. The ACC and FQME have some sort of deal going on, but I'm not sure if it only applies to members of the Montreal section or not. I can dig up the information for you if you want it.

Men... why in the world would you want to become an FQME member? No point! Hell, I live here (Quebec) and can tell you that many many climbers don't support the FQME. Why? Many reasons that go back in time...
Only reason for becoming an FQME member would be to climb at Montagne d'argent, Val David and Kamouraska. Most of the other crags will not require you to be an FQME member to have access.
Other reason would be for insurance. But the insurance they have sucks! You'd be better off with your own insurance policy.
