If there is not a guide book in your area describing top ropes, I would ask around at the local gym. Better yet, find someone that will lead climbs at your level and set up the top rope for you. I do this all the time for some of my buds. It also gives them the option of trying to lead the route. If they can't do it, I'll just run up and finish it off.
Going out with somebody who is experienced also has the advantage of learning from that person. I can't say how many times I have seen people out top roping who are making mistakes. Some of them have been quite serious.

if you can access the crag from the bottom, get someone to go down there so you can communicate

top rope setter upper: "is this the one with the start off the boulder to a large layback crack?"

beta at the bottom: "no, wrong one, go about 8' to your right"

or however it goes... you get the idea....

Glad someone posted this! I needed advice on the exact same thing. Now for me to dish out my share. Go to a local REI, climbing gym, etc. and look for someone who looks pretty experienced. Strike up a conversation and mention that you're having trouble finding good outdoor top roping routes. You'll probly gain some knowledge and a great climbing buddy!
Note: Haven't tried this yet, but it should work!

Well you are at a pretty good place to start. If this site doesnt have what you are looking for, get a guide book. If that doesnt work, ask some of the other climbers in your area.
