Huhahahaha! You are kidding right?!? Take up water skiing instead. Lots of that. In all truth depends on where you are at. There is some climbing near Grand Ledge which is near Lansing, about middle of the lower penn. IT is soft sandstone and only about 30' high, but a good variety of routes. Or, if you are closer to the upper penn. there is some climbing around Marquette. Otherwise you are kinda out of luck. Unless you like plastic. ----MH

If your just dying to climb, there are good gyms in southeast MI, one in pontiac and one in ann arbor. And as the previous post mentions, there is Grand Ledge for the real stuff.

Want until winter, then take up ice climbing. Marquette has lots. But yeah, there's some rock up there. Quartzite, I hear. Check out http://www.trails-edge.com/climb_main.htm for some stuff on MI rock. Mainly all up in the UP.

Don't waste your time with any of that...if you can, make a trip to Lion's head Ontario. It's a 3.5 hour drive from Detroit and the place rocks! You will need a partner or a gri gri (for self belay) as the bouldering is nil and the rest of the climbing is rap to hanging belays. Check it out if you can...killer limestone! http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=35119
