Just like the North facing crags over here, they get sun all day and thus are way too hot. Plain and simple, it is no fun baking at a crag in full sun in the summer.

Fools!

It's because magnetic north shifts, creating a polar flux that makes it harder to hang on. If you wear tinfoil around your johnson you can negate 4 or 5 percent of the effects, but you're still not going climb near your north facing limits.

Rookies, pfffft.

Dear Moron,

Everyone knows that updrafts are weaker on South Faces in the summer.
cschnur, et al, climbers rely heavily on convection currents generated by warm air rising upslope and away from the cool ground in the North shadow of the hill/mountain/crag/what-have-you. In the cooler months, the opposite is true.

Not sticky rubber nor foil-wrapped peckers can change science.

Poser.

.....Yeah, it's hot. But why is it slimy? I've never been outside to climb real rock but I do know that it rains like mad down here, and it's hot. So, water pools in some areas, and then the heat "burns" off what it can, leaving some stuff slimy, where algea may have grown. You know how after a rain shower in the summer in the south, you wank outside and you just feel nasty? Yeah, i hate that. Maybe the rocks do too.

Err, do you mean walk outside? If not maybe that's why the rocks are slimy!?

I personally don't think wanking outside is nasty. My neighbors and the children at the school across the street from me do disagree though.

There's no rock in Utah. It's all been wanked off. Go to Florida for proper un wanked rock.

you'll fry like a little kipper snack and slime off and do a total cheese grater.

(this is not from personal experience because I am not allowed to climb in the state of NC)
