I know of some people in the Dallas area who are going to the SLC climb fest, and I was wondering who all from the area (or even state) is going, and if you'd like to arrange some sort of car pool.

Let me know ..

Austin, but I'm likely to fly...

Not sure I want to have to DRIVE to Utah. It takes long enough to just get out of Texas...

It is a pretty good drive, 17 hours to Moab, 21 hours to SLC. That's averaging 60 miles an hour.

I know some you people out there can beat that though.

Edit: Because the hours/mileage are from Iriving. :-)

As long as you stay away from 'em Texass state troopers, sure you can go faster..

The speedometer on my truck only goes to 120 though... Sic!

Oh, that's easy .. the trick is to go so fast that their radar can't lock the speed.

In preparation for any driving , I suggest we all take a look at the

Speed Trap
Exchange.

The speed limit on the freeways thru the cities is 65 mph and 75 outside the sities. HOWEVER if you drive 80 mph EVEN IN THE CITIES on the freeway you are the slow guy.
Everybody speeds, each person thinks that since everybody is speeding it is very unlikely that you will be the one pulled over so there is very little rick.

Isn't if funny how forum topics evolve and move off on tangents so that by the second page the topic being discussed has little to do with the original topic?

Litedawg...this can be a good thing...like re-examining the mathmatical equation on how long it will take the texans to drive to SLC.
Food for the brain.

are you flying or driving? PA isn't exactly next door.

As for texas, I hear you can drive for days and still never reach the state line!

The rumors are true .. instead of calling it "BFE," they should have said "BFT" (said with utmost respect for the homeland, of course)

Litedawg:
I know it ain't natural, but I'm flying...well, no the pilot is flying, I hope. I made it to Omaha, Nebraska in a straight drive once, still took 3 days to get to SLC, Utah...I was so beat...all by myself.
So I fly now and get there in less than 5 hours, not to quote Martha Stewart...but, "It's a good thing."
What was your question?

Climbinganne (or anyone else, for that matter),

What day/time is your flight arriving to SLC? If we're arriving around the same time, I'd love to hitch a ride or split a rental or something.

Let me know,
amber

PS: I arrive on Thurs ~11a
