I've been told that, when bouldering, I should go no further than about my own height (or a little further, if one can top out) by several climbers. I would think that the landing area, as well as problem difficulty (i.e. likelihood of actually needing to bail), would have alot to do with how far one can boulder without serious risk of injury.
So how far will you go before you consider a problem to be a "highball"? (and why...)

I start getting nervous going over 16', but I guess my psychological limit is at about 20'-25'. I really does depend on the problem though. If the crux it towards the bottom, not so bad. If it's at the top, time to downclimb or take a few deep breaths and go for it.
I guess I would consider anything over 16' to be getting into highball territory for me.
Practice downclimbing instead to jumping when you get stuck, it really does help with confidence on higher problems.

Thanks for the heads up Mick; I see that this subject has been discussed thoroughly. I guess that it all depends on the situation, and what your level of climbing is. But thanks for the replies anyway.
