Ok folks, let hear it!

Ok...my most embarassing moment was when I was training in the gym...I was having fun with some dynos, and as I launched myself into the air, I accidentally let out a little air at the same time...~preeeeeep!~
Very very amusing to my crew, very very VERY embarassing to me....

That is pretty funny, and gross at the same time, but what is YOUR most embarassing moment????

I dropped the rope from the top of a spire in the SD Needles while teaching my dad to climb. I had to wait on top for about 2 hours while my brother drove up from Rapid City to rescue me.

It gets better though. I was reading John Long's book Close Calls one day, and it turns out one of the chapters was about that particular incident - the chapter was called Shivering on the Spire. I couldn't believe it.

Not everybody gets their most embarassing moment in print, and John Long's account of it was hysterical(and really not embellished very much either).

Andrew, did you happen to have a cell phone with you then? I just don't see any other way of getting in touch with someone two hours away...

Unless of course you've got a little esp..

Pianomahnn - my dad, who I was teaching to climb, was on the ground watching me drop the rope. He hiked back to the nearest phone and called my brother. Pick up the book sometime - its a great read, and then everybody can have a good laugh about what a gumby I am.

The important thing is that in the 7 years and hundreds of pitches I've climbed since then, the rope has not evern come close to being dropped. I've been paranoid about it ever since.

I have another dyno story. I was bouldering and I was spotting this chick I didnt know, well she dynoed, and her feet swung out and hit me in the groinal region. Well, that wasn't too embarrassing, but it was pretty funny! (once I recovered that is)

My most embarrassing climbing moment, was when, last summer, I was making my first nude ascent of my wall, and then two girls from next door came over.

[I think I also set the new speed record for climbing the wall!]

It wasnt an embarrasing moment... bit of a Homer Simpson "DOH" moment though.

We had seen a snake while climbing a week before and were debating over what species it was when i came out with... " i think it could have been an Eastern Brown Snake" (in a Steve Irwin know it all bushy kind of way)

But then spoiled it by saying "But that cant be it cos they're only in WESTERN Australia"
Only then to be corrected by my mates and me realising my stupid mistake.

Crikey thats dangerous!

breaking wind on the wall has got to be one of the more embarrasing things about climbing, fortunately it usually happens around ppl of the same sex as me

aie, this one was painful. i was doin a climb on toprope, and one move was a little dyno to a pocket. my first try i didnt catch it, so i fell but one of my "boys" got caught under the leg loop in my harness. owwwww . that one hurt, the embarrasing part was coming back down and being curled up on the floor in a little ball
