I'm considering going to Thailand by myself. My question is - how easy will it be to find climbing partners there?

If you are talking about Ton Sai/Railai, then you'll have no problem.

Staying in Railay will be more expensive, but if you stayed in Krabi, you'd need to take a 30-45 minute longtail ride every time you wanted to go climbing... If you stayed in Railay/Tonsai, you can walk to each crag in a matter of minutes. Tonsai is cheaper than Railay, though the Railay side is more developed. Railay also had more non-climber euro tourists... If you go anytime near the high season, you'll have no trouble finding people to climb with.

Check out www.simonfoley.com That site will tell you everything you need to know. I was there for 6 weeks. You will never want to leave. Stay on Ton Sai, cheeper and closer to the good stuff (ok, its all really good). Going to Thailand alone would be an adventure that's for sure. If you went alone, you'd be fine. But if I were you, try to find a partner before you go.

no way would you stay in krabi proper...that would be ridiculous... you stay in ton sai or east railay (west railay is for those who have money)...both 1-10 minutes from climbing...

Hi there, Did you find someone to climb with. I am keen to go climbing around December in Thailand. It would be great to meet someone and have a climbing partner to meet when you arrive, then meet more people when I get there. cheers Kim
