(you all no who I am talking about.Dont need to mention any names.)Why does this person have this rep? The reputation as being stuck up. I think I know who you are talking about, but all I have ever heard about her was the bad rep, so I really don't have a clue what she's like or how she got the rep.

Sopposedly, it's her parents that are bad. They market her like she's a product or something. Just take a look at her web site. I think she's the only pro climber that has their own website to brag about their accomplishments. I've never met her, and therefore I can't judge her personally. I did, however speak to someone who was at the Mission Cliffs comp. They said she was nice but her parents are obsessed with being the best. Anyways, that's my $0.02 Dyno On Andy

If DynoMaster is right, then we are all in big, big trouble. Look what happened to pro tennis? Lotsa gung-ho parents driving their prodigies to fame, then drug use, then ???? I can't believe that climbing has gotten to the point that parents are pushing their children to excel, and marketing them, and pretending that climbing is like all those other sports that have fallen to the big axe of promotion and corporate sponsorship. If nothing else, it's dangerous and irresponsible. I mean, if Tiger Woods' father wants to mentor and encourage him, that's just great. But, I never heard of someone miffing a Wedge Shot, and then dying. Next thing you know, we'll have the climbing communitity's version of Pornikova: highest paid, but hasn't done diddly within the sport itself.

I heard Tori Allen interviewed on NPR. She sounds like she absolutely loves climbing. It didn't sound like her parents were pushing her too hard. She's a natural athlete who loves to climb. -Jay
