I was just wondering what everyones favorite piece o gear to place or just play around with? I know everyone has at least one piece they love and trust more then the rest.

I love my Valley Giant #12 cam. It fits from 7 to 12 inches. I sleep with it.

Hm. Seeing as I don't have any gear, really, I'd have to say my shoes. Even if I don't have anything else, I can at least go boulder with just my shoes. Plus, I love they way they feel. That nice scrunched-up, nearly-hurting-but-not-quite feeling in my toes.

I guess mine is my Blue Diamond locking purple biner that I carry clipped to my belt loop all the time. It is there because I need something to fidget with during work. I used to smoke, so I guess this is my substitute. I just unlock and relock the screwgate repeatedly or clip and unclip the gate when I need something to keep my hands occupied. It helps me think and I can picture myself 100 feet up on a rock rather than dealing with the stupid crap.

hmm, depends on the route. on aid there is nothing like a pair of cam hooks. most hand cracks seem to get along exceptionally well with my #2 1/2 Friend, which is tied off so that I can take screamers onto it as necessary without trashing it. And on ice I'm rather partial to my Rambos, soooo much lighter than the X-15s I had before them. I usually don't think about favorite pieces of gear unless I have left them at home

I wore a 'biner to school once. It was surprisingly cool having something to mess with during the boring times. I'd have to say my locking 'biner is my favorite piece, because it does so much from just one spot on my harness, and gets used a lot.

My favourite piece of rock climbing equipment would be my shoes... I know it isn't something you can place in rock, but my shoes are bright orange and the laces are black with orange dots on them... They are LaSportiva's but I can't remember which ones! Plus being small and having small feet they were the smallest in the shop and they fit perfect! Also my blue and green locking biner (or as I would say my "Neena") *Lydia*

Pants. I can't climb without my special pants. Theu are a pair of zip offs that have taken a beating. Power tools, bike chains, pocket knife, you name it. It's got more patches then the original material (a little exaggerated). Never climbed in anything else.

I've gotta say my Petzl GriGri. I know its big and bulky on trad routes and you still have to carry a device for rap, but it sure is way cool when you're buddy is working that sport route or you're out with students on toprope hanging forever. It also offers some security when your pals are checking out the climbing babe on the route next to you and you're shaking like a leaf on that runout!

My vote goes to my Ball nutz and Aliens. But they could'nt have done it without the support of my harness, rope, biners, shoes, chalk, and all the hard work of my belayer! Lets give them a hand! WOoO! HOoO!

it's not climbing gear but my favorite piece of gear is my BD moonlight, I take it everywhere, you never know when you're going to need a reliable light! as far as climbing gear goes... I love my simond cubik, excellent belay device... and I also love my rope to death (mammut galaxy 50m non-dry) D
