I am thinking about going to Rainier in late September (25th). Is that fairly late for the climbing season there? The route selection and date has already been set by the person organizing the trip. We would be doing the Ingraham Glacier or Disappointment Cleaver Routes with experienced climbers, just wondering what conditions are typically like at that time.

A big fat question mark is what you get on Rainier in late September. It is truly a transitional time of year weather wise. I say go for it, but be willing to punt and peak bag the Northern Cascades or something if the weather looks daunting at all. I have had pretty good luck up to Oct. 1, but you never know.

Good luck
