i'm heading out to rocky mt. national park for the first time with a couple of friends sept. 11-19, we're planning on climbing at eldorado canyon, the flatirons and lumpy ridge probably one day each, mountain biking one day and also hoping to hike up longs peak via the keyhole route, does anyone know what i can expect weather wise, condition wise on longs? are we gonna need ice axes and crampons at the top and also what kind of clothing? any beta is highly appreciated!

Longs got a little snow over the past two days. You generally don't need crampons or axes this time of year, but things can change daily up there. Check with the rangers before going up. The weather in Eldo and Lumpy should be great. For a live picture of the boulderfield and upper part of the diamond on Longs go to:

it has rained down low the last couple of days so there is a good chance the park got snow. i ran to keyhole last week and turned back there becasue once on east slabs it was technical (sheets of ice). i would assume it is still technical on your arrival. good luck
