Looking for climbing partners; will be in Barcelona, considering trip to Paris.

Sport lead 5.10, trad 5.8 (hardly any gear).

If anyone will be in the area, would be great....

FWIW I can vouch for "theguy", as we have climbed and motorcycled together for several years. Safe climber, entertaining companion, and all around good guy.

And why am I not going on the trip, you ask? Because I have no cash and am lucky to be in Yosemite as it is.

:)

I'm going to be in Barcelona from Sept 20 to the 25. I won't have any gear with me either (except for harness, shoes, etc) but maybe we could figure something out. PM if interested.

Hey more people to climb with! This trip might work out after all. I have to be in Zaragoza for a conference Sept 12-16 and I was planning on heading to Barcelona afterwards. My partner has bailed on the trip so I'd love to meet up with a bunch of climbers to do some sport climbing for the week after the conference.

I still haven't booked my flight... I'd better get on that!

France works for me too.

Hi ecocliffchick,
I think that your best choice would be Rodellar, probably you already know this crag.... If not, it is a major one, plenty of sport routes around 7a/7b, no crux, just endurance routes with good holds...And the best is takes about one hour and a half by car from Zaragoza...
The negative point is that depending on the weather, late september may be excellent or too rainy, you never know till the last moment in that season
I will try to go there around the 20th, but it is not still sure 100%....

Thanks for the tip. Maybe we'll be able to meet up to do some sport climbing together? I'm hoping to do some climbs in Monserrat too. I've got to be in Barcelona by the 26th but I have a week to explore the crags around Madrid, Zaragoza and Barcelona. So little time and so much climbing!

edited to add 2 more days to climb. I just booked the tickets!

I am glad to see lots of interest in Spain climbing. I am going to arrive in Madrid on the 23rd and have about a week where I can climb before I start school in the northwest part of the country. I would love to meet up with anyone to do a little climbing around Madrid or Barcelona. I know nothing of the area and will have limited climbing gear.(shoes, harness, draws,.. still considering a rope). I am pretty good with Spainish if that helps. Send an email if you can.

P.S.
Any locals of Galicia out there? Voy a asistir clases en la Unversidad de Santiago de Compostela y quiero escalar tan mucho que puedo.

I'll be in Barcelona next week. My brother is getting married there Sept 24. Planning to go climbing in the Bavarian Alps this weekend so I'll have my gear and will head to Barcelona on Monday (19 Sept) if you are looking for someone to head out to Montserrat with or climb anywhere, I am fairly experienced. Lead about 5.10 trad. Not in spectacular sport climbing shape right now, but would love to get out on Tuesday or Wednesday or both.
