we should have a right to (peacefully) protest because if we didnt wouldnt people start riots and stuff? like the riots that started during the civil roghts movement and stuff.

yes, that we should. its a very frusterating topic to write on, becuz in one way, i think violent protests which have happened at G8 and stuff may help change the way things are run, but then i think that they may deserve to be prosecuted for causing so much destruction. bah, F*CK GLOBALIZATION!

Protesting can have a good point sometime. Yet it can also be an act of pure lunacy. It is one of those things that is alot of time something for total trouble makers. If your one of these, GROW UP! I never implied you are though. Oh, yeh if your one of those kind I hope they pelt you with rubber bullets. A few years ago in Seattle there was the WTO thing held here. Alot of those people are stupid freaks who need to grow up. They started thrashing the stores around there. Now many of these people where anachist type people. To comment on that, those people are stupid low lifes. They don't belong in this country. They have no appreciation for our society. If things were the way they want them life would be a LIVING HELL! Anarchy is without a doubt one of the stupidest things this world has ever seen. One thing to note though is that the african american rights protests from the last century needed to happen. They were treated like trash. If any of you are raceist. Then you are a total JACKASS! There is no reason to think that you are better than someone because of the way they look. If you are a "Tree Hugger" ask yourself this? What is the home you live in made of? I bet it has some wood on it. We all know where that comes from, don't we? TREES! So stop this kind of protests if you are one of those extremeist who thinks that trees should never be cut down. There are always those things that do need to be protests about though. I haope that is what you are interested in. As for me I'll stay away from those things as they are a waste of my time.

yes, there are some idiots at protests, but as dumb as they may be, all protestors want the same thing. change. do u really think globalization should be legal? do u really think that millions of acres of trees should be cut down, just so some can be comfortable in their homes? should the earth, and many of the people on it be sacrificed for money, and so peoples lives can supposedly be "better"? honestly, the world today is sick, it has to change.

The right to assemble peacefully (as granted by the US Constitution). Most large assemblies don't continue on the path to peacefulness because of the enactment of the mob mentality theories. A heck of a lot could get done if people would just act sensibly; oh well.

yes, u r right, protests often do get out of hand, but so do the police. there was one protest (i cant remember where and when) where police fired on peacefull protestors, with live ammunition. thats the kinda stuff that pisses me off, let us express ourselves

Jono: You are right about the trees. Our forests are being destroyed! It sucks! Everybody in protests does want change. Some changes are good others are bad. Our world is truly messed up. Violence is a way to get attention. People like violance. The news loves violence. All I hear about is death when the tv is on. I'm sick of it. But it gets seen and that is the fact. Piano. Things almost always get out of hand as you said. Mob mentality is just something that ends up happening. If you met me in real life you would think I was some kind a person who starts these things. Kids at school listen to what I say. I speak out against things I think our wrong. I admire people who stand up for what they beleive in. Lets just keep it under control.

People getting shot with live ammo is pretty bad. cops can get way out of hand. Many of them just want to be the "hero". They want to be in the spot light. They don't think that clear in a little dangerous situations. Rubber bullets and tear gas are the way to go. Unless things are way out of hand and no one is innocent. That is the only time live ammo should be used.

If you are looking for the reason we can do the protests, like was said, refer to your US constitution (also see Freedom of Speech). Other reasons pro-assembly ... try Martin Luther King ...
