Ok guys, Drysdan and i are heading out for Smith Rock this weekend. We are going with quite a few people not all of which are fully devoted to climbing. Many are more going for the camping aspect of it. Is there a decent camping area that allows you to have fires as well as has available water near by.

They are talking about camping up to 45 min away and i feel that uneceptable since i am really there to climb.

All your information is greatly appreciated.

At the Rock: costs money, no fires, sinks and showers, no sleeping in your car, limited space.

7 miles away: free, fires, portable toilet, sleeping in your car is fine, lots of room.

You can always buy jugs of water for pretty cheap somewhere.

And if you want to go out to eat one night, I highly recommend the steak place in Redmond with peanut shells all over the floor. Mmm ...

the park is 4$ a night but that also covers your climbing fee. hot showers, picnic benches, easy access to climbs. grasslands is 10 miles away, free, quiet, pit toilets. if your low key and share tent, 2 people can split the 4$-ranger guy is pretty friendly.

Just to clarify, there isn't really a "climbing fee" but there is a $3 day use fee per car. If you camp on site, your $4/person camping fee for the night includes parking for the next day.
