I went climbing on Lost Bandana Wall this weekend and came back to my truck to find a sticky note on my windshield. It said that we were required to have a permit to be on that land, even though it was state land and there was NOTHING posted to that effect. I've lived here for 36 years and have played in the desert NE of Phoenix almost my whole life and have NEVER heard of such a thing. The note was posted by some desert tour guide that happened to park in the same clearing as was I. What really pissed me off is that he wrote down in the note that he called my plates into the State Land Office and Scottsdale. What a load of !&*)!!! Is that how fellow nature lovers treat eachother nowadays? I have no respect for righteous people such as that. Has anyone ever heard of any permit required to use state land?

I was wondering about that, do you know if you are allowed to camp out in the desert bt little granite mountain, imean by taking powerline road to a turnout, then camping by some crags around there. :)

There is a permit required for using or being on state land. If you have that, you can legally be on state land. I am not sure when that happened. Here is the link: http://www.land.state.az.us/programs/natural/rec_offroad_permit.htm

So Where is the "powerline" road??? Is it just the north end of 136th at the culdesac? Parking should be legal on the surface streets.

Have you been to Little Granite Mtn? If you have, you would know the powerline road. It is not a surface street and the price for the annual pass has increased to $50 per individual or $75 for family!!!

Why yes it did! It still hurts. You have to get out there and spend $50 on a pass to keep our state economy going!!!
