Lots of people own Chacos...I don't cause I can't afford hundred dollar sandals, I'd rather spend money on something else. Does anyone else here think they're just a little overpriced? woodsE

Well, aside from my own pair, I was at Smith this last week, and not only did 4 of my partners in the trip have them, but so did just about half of the people there, or so it seemed... Talk about overnight popularity! -T

I had a pair of tevas that last 5 years and another pair that lasted alittle over 3. Then I found a pair of chacos at rei for half off a few years ago. Between the two I would take chacos without even giving it a second though. Not to mention the people at Teva sucked when the second pair started to fall apart. They are worth the money. you can climb in them as well which is cool. You can get them for right around 80 bucks i think. I do not think they are overnight either, someone told me a few years ago that they limited the amount that they would sell to shops to keep the volume under control.

Chacos are for posers who can afford to buy the name. Be for real and wear some Alp Pros from TEVA. A.W.

"chacos are for posers who can afford to buy the name" bulls**t i have had mine for over five years, i carried a rope and rack over scree fields in them, i went through two pairs of tevas in a as many years and they sucked, they just didn't fit as well, i got the tokays and they are the best thing i have ever put on my feet, the toe strap rocks. they were eighty bucks when i bought them in 96, so i guess they are 6 years old. and they are still going strong. I climbed south korea's two highest mountains in them in the rain. Trekked around in alaska, through parts of china in them, next week they're going to thailand and cambodia..the list goes on and on, when theses puppies finally give up, i'm buying another pair. why go cheap on one of your most important pieces of gear, take care of your feet, look how much a good pair of rock shoes costs, or a good pair of boots. Ever try hiking for a couple weeks in a cheap pair of boots?, Screw it, buy good gear, your feet will thank you.

chacos are awesome! i climbed in them before i got my shoes! i have heard that tevas don't last very long, no lifetime at all. and chacos can be resoled for a decent price too! can tevas do that? the sucky thing is that they are starting to be sold in my local mall. now preppy suckers who don't even really know about them will have them! i hope they do not become a "fad" of the high schools..........(oh, and my boyfriend has them too! 2 pairs in fact, which have lasted him many years, 5 i think..!!!!!)
