on some bolts the biner hangs better on one side or the other so equally the bottom biner should be opposite of potential fall
so can help some times but the biners can go either way as a preference on the way you clip

Some say that you want the non-gate side facing the direction in which you're moving-if not straight up so that there is no chance of it coming out of the gate. I usually just have a couple that are directional and a few that are not so they meet my clipping preference.

The trend is toward having them face the same way. It is thought to be a bit safer. We've discussed this in several threads in the past couple of months. Do a search for my posts on the subject for details.

i have heard that it is more safe to have them face the same way, but i prefer them to be opposite. i just find it easier to clip if they are this way.

Thanks Jay,

I did try a search before posting, forum searchs are currently disabled. Looking at your profile links to posts only shows the last 50, of which did not cover this topic.

However, I did find a long thread on this topic under the gearheads forum (many pages into it) after posting.

Thanks - after reading, I'll start with the gates facing the same way and see how that works for me.

Thanks
