Cuba is a very nice place, have a nice education, good doctors and medics, and a very good people.
I think that Cuba must mantain his "wall" because the outside world (globalized) is very dangerous and very cruel.
im not telling you that "The Revolution" is good (in a part of it ,yes)

I love your story I have been several times to cuba and been in vinales (unfortunately without the gear or oportunity to do more than boulder) being familar with most everything you said the one thing that surprises me is that you used so many complete names on a site with so many potential viewers. No matter what else you may say about the cuban government they take information gathering very seriously. I think more of your cuban friends than anything else when I say that unless you already changed the names perhaps you should consider it or even just dropping the last names and other details that make them easy to identify. To be named in an article with as many perhaps true but negative things to say about "the revolution" is more than enough reason for them to be detained or punished should that ever fit the party's agenda.

But by all means please continue to tell us about the climbing in Cuba I love hearing about it and perhaps someday we may even find me at the crag.

I long for the day we can freely climb in Vinales, but that time seems more and more distant. I live in Miami and am deeply affected by the Cuban's struggle, due to the foolish stubborness of two opposed governments. I hope in my lifetime the true struggle of the Cuban people, to be able to live decent lives, is ended and we are all able to visit a potentially wonderful island.

I wonder how they get their gear? I would love to go there, again, and leave them all I have. It is depressing to see people struggling to enjoy something so authentically unrelated, in its purest sense, to politics... how longer do they have to wait?

I just went there in December, and the climbing, the scenery, the peoeple, etc, are all incredible. My friend and I gathered extra gear from climbers here, and left it in Cuba for the local climbers. Without donations, many of the locals would not get to climb.

Hello,

I am fairly new to rock climbing, and I love Cuba. I would love to climb in cuba as I usually just scuba dive. I was wondering if you could give me more details about diving in cuba, and also where other climbing spots besides vinales are.

Thanks
