Can someone recommend a place to stay in Rumney (non-camping) for next weekend? This will be my first trip there so looking for inexpensive lodging relatively close to the climbing areas.

Thanks!

If you want a hotel or motel look in plymouth, but i recomend camping go across the road from the parking lot and knock on the door of the big farm house with the goat and donkey in the pen next to it. there is a road that goes behind the house through the field straight to the river where they will let you park your car and camp for like 7 bucks. realy nice people, great place to camp, there is a porta-cabin, beuatifull camping spot and perfect loction (five min walk to parking lot.)

yeah, there is a nice hotel near rumney called the common man inn. i stayed there last summer for one nite when the weather was just to bad to camp. im not sure about the pricing, but the place was great (its a restored factory from a while ago and has a cool feel to it) and the location seemed great, not to far from rumney itself, just on the outskirts of plymouth. short drive from the crags. i believe its the closest hotel, but i might be wrong, hotels/motels seemed to be hard to find in the area (which is y our decision to stay at the common man was easy to make) i couldnt tell u the number or website though, just do a search for it online or in a travel book. hope this helps, and have a nice time at rumney!

Thanks gunksgoer - someone at my gym recommended the Common Man as well. Unfortunately they are sold out for the weekend we are going. Anyone else out there stayed somewhere they can offer up?

I would ask this question in the north easte region forum and even on the MassClimbers thread. There's also some sort of organic farm nearby that offers rooms. Of course, I can't remember the name of it! sorry!

Here is the information about D-Acers:

D Acres, Dorchester - 1-603-786-2366 (before 5PM)
Organic Farm and Educational Homestead is the name of the farm D Acres is located on. D Acres Camping cost between $12 to $35 per nite for sites. The site options include indoor beds, treehouse structures accessible by foot, car camping spots, outdoor platform accessible by foot or car, and barn and indoor sleeping bag spaces. Meals are available (all vegetarian) and breakfast is served between 7-8:30 AM ... all you can eat pancakes for $8. Their site has no camping information at this time, but there is camping. I've asked the owners to update their website.

There is a link for it here:

There are other hotels and motels around Plymouth, you'll have to google it for now. I have not done my homework for hotels and motels yet for Rumney.

There's always the Deep River! Serviceable, but not as cheap as I'd hoped a Plymouth, NH motor inn would be.

Me and my girlfriend have a spot at a private camp ground ten minutes from Rumney (in Wentworth). We have room sometimes for two or three climbers maybe more. We have a small camper set-up and might be able to set up another tent. I am not sure how much they charge for a tent but you will never find a cheaper one so close to rumney Again this is a private camp site, so we have to ask permission from the owners. so please PM way in advance, we will try to help out as much as we can. We are moderate climbers, just started June of '04 but looking to learn anything we can. Camping will probably start in May i hope sooner.

As spiffdog suggests, Deep River Motor inn is pretty basic, but I think it should be cheap at this time of year, and the couple who run it are really friendly.
Half way between the crag (climbing) and Plymouth (food, drink) you get a bed and a shower, what else could anyone need.....

These are all in Plymouth, about 10-15 minutes from Rumney:

Best Inn 603-536-2330
Common Man 603-536-2200
Deep River Motor Inn 603-536-2155
Federal House Inn 603-536-4644
Pemigewasset Lodge and Hotel 603-536-2479
Pilgrim Inn and Cottages 1-800-216-1900
Plymouth 12 and 12 House 603-536-1245

I can't personally recommend any of them, as I commute to home or camp, but these will be the closest.

Also try the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce 603-536-1001
