One can get some SICK training indoors. But, the outdoors are so damn beautiful and peaceful. Camping. Hiking. Climbing.

I climb mostly indoors because of flat geographic location, but I would prefer outdoors anyday.

im still getting used to leading outdoors, it can be pretty scary..
..top roping inside is fun but can get boring, especially if the length or routes are all the same.. ..bouldering is fun.

Why do some people feel the need to bash gym climbing? It bothers me. I live in IL. And think the county I live in has an elevation variance of maybe 3 inches. EXCUSE me if I don't live next a 4000 ft rock. Stupid heads.

I agree, it depends on what you're going for. Having lived out east, down south, pretty much everywhere in between, I'm now living in Colorado where it's just easier (and free, I might add) to climb outdoors. I, personally, prefer climbing outdoors, it's what climbing is all about (for me at least), but to each his own. I hardly ever climb indoors anymore, and do so only when there's a ton of snow out. The gym is an excellent place to train as you can set up any kind of situation that you want or may encounter outdoors, all under constant and predictable conditions - holds are solid, it's warm and you don't have to worry about taking a 20 footer.

Again, to each his own, but for me - it's all about the outdoors.

You guys do realize this has already been discussed in numerous places on this board. Please try and scan the forums for the topic you want to start BEFORE you start new a thread. Things are being said over and over and over again. It's getting tiring.

There is no comparison. Crag and gym shouldn't even be in the same sentence:D The crags rock! That is all.

I really like it out doors compared to in doors though indoors you can climb when its raining and when it's cold but it doesn't come close to the thrill of outdoor climbing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
