Skibby and Killclimbz, count me in for Butler on Sun. Shoot me a PM later this week with a link up time and place. I can't drive very far up a trailhead in my little front wheel drive. :P I'm stoked!

In reply to: I suck on powder...... Nah you don't suck on powder. It wasn't exactly the light fluffy stuff. Hang in there, before long it's all you'll want to ski on. Wannabe, I shot you a PM for Sunday. I'm thinking the same meeting time as last Sunday if that is ok with Skibs...

I went up to Butler Gulch yesterday for some turns. Guys it is REALLY good up there, especially for October. Wind had blown tons of snow into several of the chutes in there so the powder was 3-4ft deep and oh so smooth. I really can't wait to get back there Sunday. If anyone else was thinking about joining you should get in on this.

Well, the Butler Gulch trip absolutely rocked on Sunday! 8^) The base seemed to range from 2-5ft deep with 6-10" of new snow depending where you were at. A little wind blown and crusty towards the tops of the peaks, but the troughs and shady sides were pure bliss. Wannabe, that is some set of lungs you got there. I thought you were using rockets on your ski's to get uphill. Skibs, you have already improved like 200%, it's not going to be much longer before you have this powder thing figured out! Sam, Bucky, & Cody were wiped out last night when we got home. Best type of dog you can have. Soooo, perhaps we should give Berthoud pass a shot next Sunday, or if it doesn't look so hot I am just fine with hitting Butler Gulch again. Who wants in? 3 days out & 3 full on powder days, this backcountry thing sucks...

I found this on the Forest Service avalanche awareness webpage. It's actually a pretty good quick and dirty guide to avalanche safety online. Lots of things here to keep you from working, and to give ideas on what to practice when you're out playing in the backcountry.

OK, it's Wednesday night, I'm getting over a cold, ready to get out. Who's heading out to the snow this weekend? Any BC action going on? I have a board and snow shoes, will travel. Fine, drive even... Not quite as desperate as Amber and offering beer or anything though :robert:

A-basin saturday. Look for a gray Jeep grand cherokee, a 6'7" guy, his 5'4" wife and a buddy with beard that looks like a small woodland create got super glued to his face. KT

In reply to: Still going out Sun? If so pencil me in as well. Are folks still headed out for some bc on Sunday? Details? And is there room for one more. I can contribute a 4WD SUV and am willing to drive. K

I was up at Berthoud Pass yesterday, and it was fun, but it's still a little more on the rocky side than Butler Gulch. I put 3 core shots on my board vs none in the gulch over three days. So I vote for Butler Gulch Sunday, or maybe we could hike up Jones pass and check out some of the stuff back there? I'm thinking between 8-8:30 either at the parking area or the Last General Store just before you start climbing Berthoud Pass. What do you guys think?

How dangerous is the snow pack right now? Pretty sketchy? Seems like theres' been some slides lately and I'm admittedly kinda a chicken $hit about my first bc venture being in a potential slide
