In reply to: What happens when a mime gets laryngitis? Much like Helen Keller, he screams his fingers off. Helen would have made one hell of a climber by the way--teamed up with Tommy from the Who rock opera. Curt

Subject: Re: Read this before using this forum.
In reply to: From the management of rc.com. This is the beginner climber’s forum. This forum is a place that beginner climbers can ask questions of the more experienced climbers in our midst. If you wish to answer a question then please feel free to post the answer. The answer post should be clear, well researched and concise. We would encourage the more experienced members of rc.com to make these answering posts. Of course it may be that a follow up question is posed, this is welcome as it generates further experienced member answers and thus adds to the quality of the threads. This forum is not the place for flames or trolls and these forms of posts will not be tolerated and indeed the experienced members here have ways of making it clear that this behavior is not appreciated. Well, someone always has to take their "job" here a bit too seriously and spoil all the fun. I figured it was only a matter of time before my thread and ctardi's were both shuffled off to Community, or elsewhere. So be it. Curt

Curt Actually, if you check out the back of the books "So Long" and "Mostly harmless" were listed by Douglass Adams as part of "the ever growing Hitchhikers Trilogy" but then again the guy was a comedian. Now for a Climbing Question: Can you descibe UIAA lead rope testing methods? And what do you think about the new dynamic testing?

As a climber, you will never experience even one standard UIAA rope test fall in your climbing carreer. Because lead ropes are certified for multiple fall ratings, climbing ropes never break when in use. The only exception to this, which I have recently become aware of, is the breaking of a single climbing rope that was exposed to battery acid. Curt

how do know 42 is the answer to "what is the meaning of life, the universe, etc."? i thought the the question to which 42 is the answer is unknown, but i don't remember if i read all the books, so i may have missed the question. and if that is the question, isn't that a bit of disappointment? so ho-hum. also, which is a better place to spend a few weeks this summer: boulder or phoenix?

Trust me on this one. You don't want to spend summer in Phoenix. Flagstaff, AZ. maybe, but NOT Phoenix. Curt
