In reply to: In reply to: I'll guess Kanchenjunga. Curt Sorry Curt... No The question was "Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the tallest mountain in the world?" Mount Everest was still the tallest mountian in the world even though it wasnt discovered. Doh. What is the tallest mountain in the world from base to summit (bottom to top) as opposed to elevation above sea level? Curt

I think Clausti is right about his island in Hawaii... although its spelt Mauna Loa (day have dyslexic a). If i recall from my history classes its like 15 - 17 km (i cant remeber exactly)in evelavtion although most of that is pushed below the ocean floor.

Its actually Mauna Kea, which is near Mauna Loa on the big island of Hawaii. Curt

Ok this one isnt a riddle and isnt a play on word... just requires a little thought. What word in english can have 4 of its 5 letters removed and still have it's original pronunciation?

In reply to: Curt, how would you compare the awesome bountiful 5-star world-class impeccable rock in Minnesota with the choss down where you live? Excellent question. While much of the rock in Minnesota is indeed wonderful, the "choss" we have available to us down here is not currently covered by ice or snow. Curt

In reply to: Camalots or tech friends? Camalots.
In reply to: Did you really ever climb with Duskerhu? Indeed, and with lesvor too.
In reply to: Do you know how old Kurt really is? Nope. I have no idea who Kurt is.
In reply to: And what was the bottom line for leaving Minnesota? Thanks, - Tim Well, let's see. I had the opportunity to take a job in LA, involving a huge pay increase in 1981, with Tahquitz, Suicide, Rubidoux, Joshua Tree and Yosemite basically in my backyard--or I could stay in MN amd freeze my ass off for six months out of the year....... Tough choice. Curt

In reply to: Ok this one isnt a riddle and isnt a play on word... just requires a little thought. What word in english can have 4 of its 5 letters removed and still have it's original pronunciation? The word Queue. If you take away ueue (Queue) and leave the q (Queue) It still says Queue. Read and say: Q Queue

In reply to: Kerwin! Hah! I am sure he doesn't remember me, but that name! That rockabilly hair! :) Well, you are going for your PhD, no? You can look up Kerwin Klein at UC Berkeley. He is a professor of history there. I think its a hoot that you ran into him in Toulumne. Curt

It was a . . . what . . . 2 hour sesh and never saw him again. That would be akin to stalking. :)
