Hey Curt, are there any climbers you don't know? Will you ever brag that you know me, too? Surely I have a nicer ass than Stannard and Kerwin 8-)

Hey Curt, how long of an article do I have to write (@ 35 cents/word) to afford a bottle of Curt-worthy scotch?

Hey Curt, did you like Paradise Forks?

Hey Curt, guessing the answer to the above question, can I have your new rack now, too?

Hey Curt, does it bother you when people spell it "whiskey?"

Hey Curt, do you know why my tortoise died last weekend? Did you know that he wasn't much different dead than alive, just a little smellier?

Hey Curt, do you think I can send all the V0s on North Mountain this season?

Hey Curt, did I really make the car ride to JTree seem twice as long even though you tried to get me to shut up by feeding me Pringles but they were the yucky plain kind anyway and besides that I talk with my mouth full?

But, in Utah, they provide little flags for you to safely cross teh street.

CURT! COME BACK! I have questions for you.

What kind of scotch is best for everyday drinking (i.e. while I study)?

What kind of scotch is best for special occaission drinking?

What kind of scotch is best for drinking with people you're trying to impress?

I returned to this thread because this is a SERIOUS QUESTION, requiring a SERIOUS ANSWER. First of all "scotch" means different things to different people. For instance, to me blended scotch isn't really scotch at all, in spite of the fact it is Scottish. Go figure. So, we are talking about single malt whisky here, OK?

There are distinct regional differences found in the malts distilled in the four major regions of Scotland. There are lowland malts, which are rather light and somewhat resemble Irish whisky. There are the Highland malts, which vary considerably, but (in general) are more distinctive than the lowland malts and often have flavors that result from ageing the whisky in Oloroso Sherry barrels, or Port barrels, etc. Next are the island malts, from Islay, Skye, the Orkneys, etc. which charactaristically exhibit intense smoky flavor, resulting from the use of local peat to halt the germination of the barley. Last of all are the Campbeltown malts, which are in their own distinct class. So, you will really have to see which type (or types) of these malts appeal to you personally.

In spite of that caveat, here are a few suggestions for you:

Everyday drinking: 10 year old Springbank (Campbeltown), 12 year old Macallan (Speyside - highlands), or Highland Park from the Orkneys.

Special occasion drinking: 25 year old Macallan (about $400 per bottle and in my opinion, the very best malt available) or 25 year old Glenfarclas (at $150 a bottle, about 1/3 the cost of the Macallan) which is almost as good and is similarly aged in Oloroso Sherry casks.

To impress people: Well, either of the two above should get the job done. If you want to impress me, you can buy the bottle of 1946 Macallan that is on sale at the store near me, where I buy my whisky. It is only $3,000 and I will help you drink it. Haha.

I have often remarked that I prefer spotting you, as opposed to Kerwin. This is partly because you fall. Frequently.

In reply to:

A mere 1,200 word article would score a bottle of 25 year old Macallan. Its older than you--and sweeter too.

In reply to:
Hey Curt, did you like Paradise Forks?

@&^**@%^ you and the ^%&*@@#$ horse you rode in on.

In reply to:
Hey Curt, guessing the answer to the above question, can I have your new rack now, too?

Nope, I used the stuff in October at the Gunks, where there is actually good trad climbing. So, I still need it. Besides, I already gave you all my old crap.

In reply to:
Hey Curt, does it bother you when people spell it "whiskey?"

Silly Irish and Canadians. Hahahaha.

In reply to:
Hey Curt, do you know why my tortoise died last weekend? Did you know that he wasn't much different dead than alive, just a little smellier?

I suspected something had died in there, when I was at your place several months ago.

In reply to:
Hey Curt, do you think I can send all the V0s on North Mountain this season?

Only with my beta and me spotting you.

In reply to:
Hey Curt, did I really make the car ride to JTree seem twice as long even though you tried to get me to shut up by feeding me Pringles but they were the yucky plain kind anyway and besides that I talk with my mouth full?

No. Actually the time passed quite quickly on that trip, since I was deeply immersed in imagining various means by which I could kill myself.

Crikey, caught out again, that`ll teach me to hitch a lift with an old balding guy and a young talkative chicky babe. That scotch breath shoulda gave me a hint when curts car pulled up. The tutu on curt should also have alerted me that something was amiss.

Just the ones you've been with dude. Stop paying for hookers and get yourself a girlfriend.

(I hate racism and racial sterotyping and it really has no place in this world, let alone this forum)
