I am 16, I have been climbing fro about 8 months. I climb hardest in indoor bouldering; around V5  I climb mid 5.10 outdoors. I am trying to make up my mind right now but currently I like trad, bouldering and sport. I kind of want to specialize but I dont know which :( . I like bouldering cause you can really just throw everything you got onto a rock, I like sport because it is fun, and I like trad because it is more fulfilling.

I was gonna say this thread is pathetic. But 1) the internet police would have admonished me for pissing in the kiddy pool, and 2) this line was worth it:

I thought only old farts were on this site. I'm seventeen and i don't know what I climb outside because I've been stuck in the gym the last two months. Probably about mid 12's sport. I'm hoping to get into trad more because it's such a rush.

yeah, trads definately my fav besides bouldering. I'm getting tired of the gym as well, but there's too much snow on the ground here for the local crags anyway... I'm hoping to do some trad around Moab over spring break.

I'm 14, and I've been climbing on and off for about a year. I do lead, sport and bouldering. Indoors and outdoors for all o' them.

Bouldering wise, I climb V1s and V2s, and I'm sure I'd to a tad bit better if I was taller(currently 5'2" I think). In sport I climb 5.9s and 5.10s(at best) and at lead I can do 5.9s, and not much more because I'm still just starting out.

Thanks guys, it's cool to see there are some climbers here that are around the same age group as me.

im not too sure of the grading though because i am in New Zealand and we have different grading.

I have been climbing mostly indoors because i havn't got all the gear for outdoors yet, but i will most deffinitly be going outdoors alot these holidays!

I am mostly into sport climbing and lead 19s (nzl) so im not too sure how that compares with your guys grades. Does anyone know a conversion table or sumthing between grades ??

Ok, I'll enter into the spray...

I'm 16 and have been climbing for 2 years. Was a gym rat for the first year and a half and now have shifted my sights to trad climbing. I lead 5.8-5.9 gear routes pretty comfortably-- I've never really pushed myself too far on lead. I haven't sport climbed in 6 months or so, but earlier in the summer when I was onsighting 5.10+ pretty consistently. I now have been spending more time at the local toprope crags and have been climbing 5.10, occaisionall 5.11 there.

Traditional climbing is definately what I find most enticing in climbing, and would like to start pushing myself harder in the trad arena. I've gotton comfortable enough with leading that I'd like to try more physically demanding routes, and hope to be climbing Seneca 5.10 in the spring.

Also, in terms of long term goals, I'd like to branch out further with my climbing and get experiance in aid climbing in particular. I've set the goal of attempting a Yosemite Grade VI after I finish my Senior year (in a year and a half- May 2006).

http://www.danskbjergklub.dk/toolbox/gradering/chart.htm.
That is an address of a conversion table. Conversions vary from chart to chart and many people disagree on the grades.

I'm fifteen, and i've been climbing for almost two years and boulder V8ish (most recently Caveman and Alexandria's crimp start). Unfortunately i'm scared of heights... . As such the hardest i've actually led is a 5.11 sport and i've never completed a trad route...

*note* the fact that my rope is a twenty year old relic doesn't exactly help the fear factor.
