Hi there, Here's a quick one as I could not find something really relevant: How's the bouldering in Bishop in winter (from November to February) ? And the same for Hueco Tanks ? Just wondering as I'll spend 3 months in the US next winter (2005/2006). Would it be better a couple months before winter ? Thanks, Seb.

That is the ideal time for both locations (for bouldering). You will get some cold weather in Bishop and particularly at higher elevations such as the Buttermilks, but it is gorgeous! Hueco is the same way - they are getting snow today (Dec. 22) but tomorrow it could be 65 degrees! With 2 months or more you will have tons of gorgeous days at either location. If you go to Hueco, plan in advance so you can get your reservations.

Spent last January to early March in Bishop. It was cold and snowy in Jan, although I was assured by the locals that this was an abnormally severe winter. February was extremely pleasant, mostly in the 40s-50s if I remember correctly, and by march it was starting to get up into the 70s. I guess I'd suggest late Jan through Feb as the best conditions, but it also depends on your personal preferences.

Thanks a bunch ! Sounds good to me. I'll have a closer look at that reservation stuff in Hueco. Thanks again. Cheers, Seb.
