Ow I went out last weekend and was doing some roof climbing and durring this I took a couple big falls ( one was about 30+ feet) I noticed now that my hips have bruises on them right where my harness sitts. Not a big deal I'm just wondering if I'm doing somthing wrong or perhaps there may be something wrong with my harness. Any thoughts??? Not wearing a belt Mike

Sounds like you took some hard falls. Probably not a big deal. I've had some bruising from hard falls caused by my harness. As long as your harness fits well you should be just fine. When you got to get a new one you may want to try one that has more padding around the areas you bruised.

I've been bruised by my harness before, from hanging belays, but generally my harness (BD Momentum) doesn't hurt, even on my bony hips. But what DID bruise me up? swiss seats! I rappelled out of one of those "rope diapers" with the military, and oh my god it was uncomfortable

i used to get bruses from just wearing a harness all day, but that was when i first started. i dont think it matters as long as your harness fist you right you should be fine.

30+ feet would do it, little matter what harness you are wearing. Some people are more predisposed to bruising than others (you can bruise my little sister by grabbing her arm, you could hit me with a truck and I might buise). Black Diamond makes a harness (the Bod harness) that I particularly like. It is amply padded and not too terribly pricy either, and its very easy to put on and take off as well. I like it alot. Doesn't pinch the frank and beans like alot of harnesses either.
