Damon Johnston and I just released our new guidebook to rockclimbing in southwest Colorado. THE WILD WILD WEST covers several climbing areas in the west end of Montrose and San Miguel counties, including Clay Creek, Naturita, Paradox Valley, 16Z, Big Gypsum Valley, Sewemup Mesa, The River Road (Y11) and more. Over 500 routes are included, both sport and cracks up to 5 pitches/350+ feet. Many bouldering areas are noted, as well.

The book is available at bookstores and climbing shops in the local region. It can be purchased online from Between The Covers bookstore in Telluride, http://www.between-the-covers.com

More info on the book, and info about local climbing areas, can be found on my website: http://www.charliefowler.com

The climbing areas are approximately an hour or two from Grand Junction, Moab, Cortez, Telluride and Ouray. Many of the crags in the book are south-facing and warm in the wintertime - now is a good time to climb here.

enjoy! Charlie Fowler

That sounds great! We've just put our house on the market and want to move to the Montrose area once it sells.

I tried to find your book on the "Between the Covers" website, but didn't have any luck. Do you have a link to a specific page on their site where I can find it? Or, are there any other online stores that currently carry it?

Between The Covers is just now updating their site, as the book just came out a few days ago. It should be listed soon; you can email them anyway with a request, they have it in stock. It is carried by Cimarron Creek in Montrose, too: http://www.cimarroncreek.com. Also The Telluride Mountaineer http://telluridemountaineer.com, Paragon Ski and Sport (Telluride), Canyon Sports in Cortez and Ouray Mountain Sports.

cheers, Charlie

We're having a book signing at Between The Covers in Telluride next Tuesday evening (January 18th), refreshments will be served. Starts at 6:30 pm.

In a few weeks or so we will be doing another book signing and a slideshow about areas covered in the guide in Cortez, sponsored by Canyon Sports. Details to be announced.

cheers, Charlie
