At the Skaha gathering I tried slacking for the first time and immediately set one up at home.http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=ListPhoto&PhotoID=4855
It is GREAT fun but Ammon and his friends make it look so much easier than it is.How many of you have tried it??

I tried it for the first time a couple of years back at camp 4 in Yosemite. Braden Mayfield was there and was giving me tips on how to do it. It was alot of fun but can be difficult. Just on of those things you have to have body control on.

I love slacklining!!

It's fun.
It's blazin' a** hard.
core strength, is key.
I'm getting better!
I can get on no problem now...balance was up to 27 seconds one night, and finally started walking

8 steps last count.
It's not easy!! It's awesome!!
and damn it hurts, when you get a *SMACK*!!!!!

hehe ** I love it.

It rocks! Nikegirl and I get up on it at least once a week and I have to say that the more time you spend on it, the better you get. It is absolutely amazing as far as perfecting your concentration and obviously balance. Works on muscles you didn't know you had.

T,
he..he.. Iknow what you mean about gettin snapped by the line.I made the mistake of getting on the line with shoes on and one foot slipped off each side...and the slackline was just high enough...(you can see where this is heading).....to snap me good right in the.....and made me talk all high pitched and want to vomit....for long enough to realize....barefoot is the best way to do this LOL!!
I have made it about 20ft. so far after stepping on to the line.I found a longer line to be harder to get accustomed to but I'm starting to "GET IT" as PTPP would say.
It is by far the best balance exercise one can do!!!

Slacking is awesome. I can spin around now

But I dont want the "traditional" way. Being a snowboarder, skateboarder and wakeboarder, I walk sideways. I believe this is "The Better Way". My partner, who has been slacking just as long as I have (about 6 times) can't walk across a 20m line, as I can

I'm working on jumping, spining 180, then landing back on the line. I landed it on the line once, but I lost my balance. Whenever i'm learning new stuff like this I ALLWAYS where my skateboarding helmet, but last time I KO myself when my feet slipped off.

Have Fun,
Jeremy

Hmmm ...sideways???????
20m??? only 6 times
something tells me that you are er..umm...just slightly exagerating this slacking thing. What are you using to tighten this 20m line??And sideways you say, walking 20m sideways?? Wow B_G if you can do that you truly must be like the seventh wonder of the slacking world..he.he...

Yup, I dont mean 6 trys, I mean six days of doing it (spred over about 4 weeks) get it? I'm also a street skater, witch means I do alot of rails so my balance was probley better to start with then some ordinary joe. I used a come-a-long to tighten the line, and it was super tight.

Props on the 20m walk. Thats huge That must be some come-a-long. If anyone wants good trick ideas try starting by hanging under the line by your hands and feet. Then try drinking an entire beer while walking. Making all foreward progress with 360s is cool too. For real sickness try a backflip dismount. I can't do the backflip but I've seen it done.

I'm just not in the know, so what is the line actually made of? Doesn't look like rope, looks like webbing in the picture...? Is it? Be nice and cheap then at least!

My girlfriend was able to walk and turn comfortably on a small 25' line after about 4 hours of work over 3 days

It's all about the teacher, ask rrrADAM

Chains are similar, but much easier. They don't shift as much, nor do they stretch. I personally suck on the slack line, though I haven't really given it that much effort. I like walking chains (probably because it's easier in my opinion) but I'm not really into webbing.

Mark's (fiend) line is up in my backyard... I can now walk and turn and walk and turn, etc... All in just 2 weeks. The more time you spend on it, the more proficient you get.

Just stay at it.

I got to the point earlier this summer where I could mount, walk, turn around, and other stuff. Haven't done it in a while though.

Hmmm, I can bounce pretty high on the line, but it seems as though the line always has tension, therefore becoming "air born" above the line is impossible.

How do you do this Jeremy ???
