This is kinda weird. For the last few weeks the tendon in my thumb has been hurting. I'm sure it's due to climbing, but I don't see how it's related. You see, it's not the tendon used to close my hand, but rather, it's the tendon used to extend my thumb. I don't see how a tendon that extends the thumb can be injured while pulling with the hand, but that seems to be the case. Any thoughts?

TIA

I do know that the tendons involved in "opening" and "closing" a specific digit are indeed the same tendons. There isn't one tendon for lifting your thumb and another for closing it.

You should see a doctor. Medical advice from forums such as these is inadequate and circumstantial at best.

Rode bulls for years now I climb, have had alot of cases with tendonitis. Take it serious, it can sideline you longer then busted bones. Actually, the sheath covering the tendon gets inflammed and if its not taken care of it is a bitch. Bad thing is rest and ice is about the only treatment. You can tape up and relieve some of the pain and prevent somemore injury but its not a cure. Good luck

Thanks again. I guess I should see a doctor... and not the weedology kind.
