Yeah, I should be in school right now. I just might be the laziest climber in this half of the state, at least since I haven't gone out in way too long. I'm not too good either. I once onsighted a single move 5.10c move at Chapel, but I have yet to repeat it. Other than that, the best I've done was a 5.9 about 20 miles west of North Conway, I think someone told me it was called Punk Rock, but I don't know for sure. Either way, it took me 14 attempts. Currently working on: Tennessee Flake and Lunar Eclipse at Rose (at long last I made it up Double Helix! That route is a damn classic!), and although they're completely beyond me, I just started Kingdom Come and Chronic Fixation on the King Wall. If you've not been there yet, you'll never forget it when you do (hell, my first trip consisted of stepping in a buried wasp nest and then running/tumbling away into a tree in a futile escape attempt). Unfortunatly, school, work, and any number of other commitments have prevented me from climbing as much as I would like. Even so, I manage to find ways to keep in shape, although it does carry a relative risk. For the past 2 years I have been climbing buildings, usually belonging to my current school, under the cover of darkness. So far, I have free-soloed 8 different routes, 5 of them being first ascents (I'm not the only one who does this), the crowning achievement being the time I onsighted the inside of the Deerfield Academy pool tower (also a first ascent), which I am told is in the 5.10b range. I have yet to repeat it, and as far as I know, no one else has made it since. Trust me, climbing buildings is much more of a thrill when you have to evade campus security at the same time. I'm in my local community college right now, biding my time until I can justify leaving home. That may take a while, but at least the money I save on tuition goes straight to the rack.
